Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. * What: TheatreWorks Florida production of rock musical If your salad days were during a different era, well, your results may of Ages’ I am of the right demographic to tap my feet to the tunes and chuckle at the stupidity of the rest. A highlight: A fantastic duet version of Damn Yankees’ “High Enough.” The band sounds tight and manages to be rock ‘n’ roll loud without overpowering the theater. Steven Maynard’s set is spot-on for a dingy dive bar and full of smart details. (Nicholas Hartman designed the excellent costumes, Heather Franklin the period-specific hair and makeup.) Better are the visual nods - acid-washed jeans, over-processed hair, a boombox. The 1980s references rush by - Molly Ringwald, Tiger Beat magazine - but they often don’t have any comic payoff. ![]()
